Did you know that we do all of our own photography? On our phones!
Yes, you read that right. All of the lovely photos of our gear on our kids were taken by us on our phones. And i want to show you how you can do it too.
How many times have you taken your little one/s to an event or out somewhere nice and tried to take some photos, only to realise once you got home that they're ok, but a bit boring and you don't really feel confident in posting them on Instagram?
I've never had any photography training or anything, but i have taken A LOT of photos of my kids. And these are the simple things that i've found that work the best.
1. Take the photo from eye level or below.
This is the easiest way to improve your photos 100%. It's a great way to show them from an angle that you don't normally see and also to make the image more appealing to look at.
2. Get outdoors
Natural light and space for them to move is a great combination.
3. Get them moving
Showing them in action (obviously this isn't the case for newborns) and doing something they love is a great way to show joy in your little one's eyes.
4. Don't ask them to pose!!
This will only lead to cheesy awkward grins or flat out refusal.
5. Continuous shooting is your friend (take lots of photos)
It's hard to get that perfect timing, so the more you take the more chance you have to get the right shot.
And here's an extra pro tip:
Portrait Mode! Depending on which phone you have, you may or may not have this. It's where the background of the photo is automatically blurred and makes portrait shots look amazing.
Some editors allow you to add this feature later too. So make sure to check your phone's camera and photo settings.
I hope these tips help you take more beautiful photos of your little ones.
